4+ Reasons I Dermaplane

4+ Reasons I Dermaplane

Dermaplaning is a skincare treatment that exfoliates the skin while tricking it into repair mode, similar to another favorite treatment: microneedling but less abrasive. The result of this mild exfoliation can be compared to your standard chemical peel or a microdermabrasion treatment. I personally had all three treatments done and performed them on others in skin specialist school. I personally keep up with this treatment on myself and it is one of my favorites!

Skin conditions better suited for this treatment include oily and/or acne prone skin as it tends to have dead skin cell build up appearing thicker, sun damage, hyperpigmentation or premature sun damage, large pores, bothersome facial hair, fine line, and wrinkles.

1. The dermaplane treatment, if performed alone, is quick— lasting around 20 to 30-minutes but it can be done with a chemical peel or mask treatment. Depending on skin type/conditions and analysis, this needs to be done once or twice a month with desired results in about six treatments!

2. This controlled scraping procedure removes the outermost layers of skin which contribute to the overall appearance of your skin. It is improved with a smoother and finer look. Fine hairs may also be removed through this process, adding a smoother appearance.

3. In addition to a softer and smoother surface, dermaplaning allows for a deeper product penetration. This means the cleansers, toners, moisturizers, serums, and masks you use will absorb better into the skin.

4. My top favorite result from this treatment is the smoother make-up application! I guess this reason pairs with number three, but due to the product absorption I find my make-up to apply so much smoother on my skin in just as quick as the next day.
